Coming your way shortly – Foundation Fundamentals, 8th Edition, and Guía para escribir propuestas!
March 26, 2008
Dear Cooperating Collection Supervisor:
I am delighted to announce that an important text for Foundation Center Cooperating Collections
is on its way to your library. The long-awaited new edition of Foundation Fundamentals
replaces the prior edition. This is our heavily used textbook for academic programs in
nonprofit management and fundraising. It provides those new to the field
(including foundation and nonprofit board members) with basic insights into foundations
and their role in U.S. philanthropy. A key chapter is "What is a foundation?"
This volume, edited by Sarah Collins, is a completely revamped and revised version with an
emphasis on online resources that 21st century grantseekers use to identify, research,
and approach foundations. There's a chapter dedicated solely to corporate funding resources
and a brand new chapter on resources for individual grantseekers. And, of course, there's a
thoroughly updated bibliography with both print and Internet resources.
We know you will find Foundation Fundamentals to be a valuable addition to your collection,
and we hope you will find the time to peruse it yourself and to share with other staff members who
work with the collection.
Also coming your way is the Guía para escribir propuestas. This is a Spanish language
translation of our ever-popular Foundation Center's Guide to Proposal Writing, 5th Edition.
With so many grantseekers who use our resources today having Spanish as their primary language,
this too is an important addition to your core collection. We know your Spanish-speaking users
will appreciate having it available to them as they learn the ropes of proposal writing. If you
know of an umbrella agency in your community that has a Latino constituency and should be made
aware of the availability of the Guía, please feel free to let them know about it,
or contact us and we will follow up.
Sincerely,
Kief Schladweiler
